Mubadala is making capital intensive investments with long-term horizons to help diversify Abu Dhabi's economy.
At the core of its strategy, Mubadala invests in successful companies to deliver strong financial returns. It is rigorous in its approach to all investment opportunities. As well as ensuring its investments are financially rewarding, Mubadala also evaluates each opportunity based on other sustainable benefits it can provide for Abu Dhabi.
Many of Mubadala’s investments have provided new opportunities to partner on future projects. For example, Mubadala’s 5 percent stake in Ferrari led to its sponsorship of the world-renowned Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team and opened up discussions for the 2009 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Mubadala’s acquisitions in companies have also resulted in the formation of new businesses. Mubadala’s 25 percent stake in LeasePlan Corporation led to the establishment of the joint venture company, LeasePlan Emirates, which now provides vehicle leasing services in Abu Dhabi.
