Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC)

Imperial College London Diabetes Centre opened in Abu Dhabi in 2006, as part of an agreement between Mubadala and Imperial College London to collaborate in healthcare, education and research. The Centre is vital to efforts to tackle the condition throughout the United Arab Emirates, which has the second highest prevalence of diabetes in the world.

Since opening, ICLDC has achieved tremendous operational success. Highlights include the treatment of more than 28,000 registered patients, the provision of 80,000 one-to-one consultations by the Centre’s specialist public health team and an award-winning public health awareness campaign, “Diabetes. Knowledge. Action.”

A second facility in Al-Ain, about two hours drive from Abu Dhabi, is scheduled to open in mid-2011.
